I know you know what I am going to say. I even think you probably feel it.
Roman is just using you. I didn't give him immunity for his crimes in Genessia City like Weiss did in Nova City. He's still a wanted man here and he's shown no intentions of paying for his crimes. He doesn't care about protecting people or the law, he doesn't have good intentions for anyone.
I'm guessing he wants you to win and for you to be grateful to him for giving you a push and granted him immunity like Weiss. You don't have to take my word for it, his history and crimes speak for themselves. I know you've seen the posts Weiss has made about him in the past.
[There's a pause as she ponders David's words and everything she's heard about Roman in the past.]
I really don't see what Roman hopes to gain by using me. It's highly unlikely that I'll win anyway. You have far more knowledge and experience than I. Whatever Roman is planning won't work.
[So why the hell is she running? Even she isn't entirely sure.]
There are many things people don't believe can happy that did. I'd never under estimate a persons chances of winning something. You are a friend and ally and Roman using you as a pawn in a game that he's playing isn't something that I particularly like. People like him are always planning and scheming. It's not always obvious what their end goal is.
[Another sigh. She really couldn't imagine what Roman was planning to do with her, or with Attleton if he becomes Guardian. The question is what to do now. The obvious answer would be to back out of the election, but can she really do that? Besides, part of her wanted to follow up with Roman, just to see what he's up to.]
Well... I suppose it's too late to back out of the election...so I guess I'll have to try my hardest to lose.
If you don't want to be used by him and want to back out, all you have to do is tell the CPU you withdraw. [It really isn't anything more complicated than that.]
But let me ask you. What do you want to do? And what do you want to do with yourself here in Genessia?
Then let me ask you this. Why did you accept the nomination? You don't believe you can win and you haven't thought of what to do with yourself. Why did you chose to run for a position that could put the lives of a city's worth of people in your hands?
[There has to have been a reason, or she wouldn't have accepted. At least she's rather looking forward to the debate...sort of.]
I think the debate would be a good learning experience for me, at least. And at first, I didn't know that it was Roman who nominated me. But now I am curious about his plans. However...if I thought I had any chance of winning, I wouldn't have accepted.
So you accepted because you want to join in the debate? And not because Roman said you could use a challenge and could make a good leader? [Because that seemed like her initial reasoning.]
Elaborate on why you wouldn't join if you thought you could win.
[Another moment of silence as Karla ponders how to collect her thoughts. There are so many reasons to gather...]
Well, we've established that beyond my decision to take up the sword, I'm not good at making decisions at all. I look at what Weiss has done...I understand why she did it, but I also understand why people were angry with her for it. I don't know what I would have done in that position. But I suppose it's one of many difficult decisions a Guardian has to make...
So...knowing that I have no chance of winning, it would make no difference whether I ran or not. Everyone will see my indecisiveness in the debate, and thus see you as the better Guardian. You also have the experience to back up on.
I can say you do come off as very indecisive. Because you simultaneously come off as wanting to run and not wanting to run. Putting yourself on display for the sole purpose of letting people see your negative traits isn't noble.
Let me ask you directly. Do you want to be or do you find yourself suitable for a role as Guardian or even Deputy Guardian?
Alright. I suppose that answers that. [It had been his intention to offer her a Deputy Guardian spot if she lost or decided to withdraw. But if she's not interested, there doesn't seem to be a point.]
A deputy guardian supports the city Guardian. They handle things for them, oversee things if they are asked to, ect. Their job isn't as big as the City Guardians, but it is still important.
[She'll fall silent for a moment as she weighs the pros and cons. A good way to learn about Guardianship without Roman being able to use her, since David would still be in charge. And she really could stand to come out of her little bubble more. But the question still remains, would she be able to handle it? Unfortunately, there seems to be no way to know without actually trying it.]
[She took a moment to consider what she wanted, but since she barely ever wants anything, she can't think of anything specific for her office. Even the idea of having an office at all is completely new to her.]
I wanted to let you know first that once I retire, I will be taking over as Commissioner of the GCPD. At least, that's what the plan is. [Things are already in order for it and such.]
Well, I suppose that's true. But I'll miss working with you...
[Things had gotten pretty thick. Karla's gaze wanders as she thinks
almost fondly of those times. Even though she can take up her sword and
fight anytime danger strikes, it just wouldn't be the same.]

[It’s easy to figure out, since Roman nominated himself right after. And no one nominates anonymously and because Roman has it out for him.]
Voice
[He was anonymous to her, too. Just because Roman talked to her right afterwards, doesn't necessarily mean it was he who nominated her.]

[Oh boy, that million dollar question. She remembered when Satsuki asked her that shortly after her arrival. Today, she's no closer to the answer.]
I only want to find my brother. Beyond that...I don't know what to do with myself...

I can't think of anything...

Oh? All right...
[She tilts her head curiously at the screen, feeling that there's more to the message.]
I haven't decided what I'm going to do yet...
[How surprising is that?]

It's nothing you need to decide now. You have months before the time comes.

Do you have any final Guardian projects in mind?
